St. Albert, AB – Bryce Sturm scored with 4:30 remaining in overtime and Josh Antunes scored two goals as the St. Albert Merchants slid past the Spruce Grove Regals 3-2 at St. Albert - Akinsdale Arena on Friday.

Rounding out the scoring for the St. Albert Merchants was . Jacob Karran. Goaltender Nate Reinhart turned aside 46 shots for the St. Albert Merchants in the win.

Cashing in for the Spruce Grove Regals was AJ Kupsch and Riley Lorenowicz chipping in with a goal each. Goaltender Ryan Blomme made 46 saves in the loss for the Spruce Grove Regals.

With the win, the St. Albert Merchants improve to 1-0-0-0 while the Spruce Grove Regals fall to 0-0-0-1.
