St. Albert, AB – Brent McGugan scored a goal and added an assist as the St. Albert Merchants extended its winning streak to five games with a 7-1 whipping over the Beaumont Chiefs at St. Albert - Akinsdale Arena on Sunday.

Completing the scoring for for the St. Albert Merchants was Connor Hoekstra, Josh Jewell, Ryan Harrison, Jared Kwasney, Taylor Wiebe, Liam McNamara each tallying single markers. Dan Rombough added four assists and Casey Reid added two assists. Goaltender Justin Pawlenchuk turned aside 16 shots for the St. Albert Merchants in the victory.

Tallying the single marker for the Beaumont Chiefs was and Alex Fu, his second of the season. Goaltender Nolan Kruizenga made 35 saves in the loss for the Beaumont Chiefs.

The loss snuffed out the Beaumont Chiefs' four-game winning streak.

With the victory, the St. Albert Merchants improve to 5-0-0-1 while the Beaumont Chiefs fall to 4-2-0-0.
