League Playoff Policy

a) Should two or more teams be tied at the end of regular season play the following guidelines will apply to decide the play off structure 
  1. Win/loss record against each other during the regular season. 
  2. Goals for/against each other during the regular season 
  3. Goal average determined by dividing the total of goals for and against into the goals for. The team having the highest percentage wins the higher position. (This is based on total goals for and against for all games in the regular season).
  4. Decision of President 

(b) The top 12 teams with the highest points at the end of the regular season will enter the playoffs. The top 4 teams will be ranked 1 through 4 based on points earned in league play. The remaining eight teams will be ranked 5 through 12 based on points earned in league play.

The format for the playoffs will be as follows:

Qualifying Round

(i) Best of three qualifying round 

  1. five vs. twelve 
  2. six vs. eleven 
  3. seven vs. ten 
  4. eight vs. nine 

At the completion of the qualifying round the remaining teams will be ranked five through eight based on points earned in league play.

Quarter Final
(ii) Best of five quarter final 
  1. one vs. eight 
  2. two vs. seven 
  3. three vs. six 
  4. four vs. five 

At the completion of the quarter final round the remaining teams will be ranked based on points earned in league play with the top 4 teams remaining 1 thru 4 as long as they are not knocked out

Semi-Final
(iii) Best of seven semi final 
  1. one vs. four 
  2. two vs. three
Final
Best of five final 
  1. winner of 9 vs. winner of 10 

The top four teams will get home ice advantage in all series that they are playing in. In all cases the team with the higher point total during the regular season will get the extra home game if one is necessary. This team is not guaranteed the first home game. 

Playoff Overtime

This overtime will be as follows: After regulation time one ten (10) minute stop time sudden victory period will be played. If it is still tied there will be an intermission while the ice is cleaned and flooded. The teams will then play twenty (20) minute stop time sudden victory overtime periods with ice cleaned after each period until there is a winner.
